The Pizza Was On Us at Fat Boys in Holt!
We were totally blessed with another great Community Event Tuesday evening at Fat Boys Pizza! There was a line out the door down the sidewalk from 4:30 until after 6 pm when we finally had to shut it down.
The way it worked was, if you ordered a medium cheese or pepperoni pizza and picked it up between 4:30 and 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 17, HCC would pay for your pizza.
The event was well-promoted and the turnout was amazing!
Fat Boys owner, Dave had a crew of 10 with 50 medium pizza doughs prepared at 4:30. They were immediately overwhelmed. But hey, its free pizza, and for the most part the people were very patient and very appreciative as they left.
One of Dave’s managers said that on a Tuesday night between 4:30 and 6 they might do about 25 pizzas.
But not this night!
Dave’s team rocked it!
Even though all 4 phone lines lit up constantly, they never gave up.
In an hour and a half Fat Boys served 130 free medium pizzas! Including the free pizzas, they served 200 total pizzas in the hour and a half. The other 70 pizzas were regular orders.
On a Friday or Saturday night, they might serve 200 pizzas in a 5 or 6 hour time frame. But Dave’s team put out 200 pizzas in about 90 minutes on Tuesday night!
That’s gotta be a record!
We even got to share a half dozen medium pizzas and some bread sticks with the local Fire Department, which they enjoyed very much and were very appreciative. A great bunch of folks there!
We also gave each of Dave’s team a We Appreciate You card with a $50 bill attached to thank them for their amazing job.
By all accounts it was a great night of fellowship and free pizza.
And it was a true blessing to be able to help a local small business and share the love of Jesus with them and the entire Holt community!
A MAJOR shout-out and many thanks to the Local Impact Team for arranging this event!
