Mind-Blowing Day at the Garage Sale Fund-Raiser!
It’s amazing how God can take the simplest things and make something beautiful come from them!
Recently we held a Craft/Bake/Garage Sale event at church to raise funds for Alyssa’s wish to go to Disney.
If anyone doesn’t know, Alyssa Gonzales is Pastor Conrad’s daughter and she is suffering from brain cancer. The prognosis is bleak, but Alyssa still has things she wants to do.
So the Craft/Bake/Garage Sale was a way to raise funds to help the Gonzales family with making Alyssa’s wish come true.
But one really cool part of it, was how the whole thing came about.
It started with a simple Facebook post from Joyce Berridge (Alyssa’s grandma), that Jeannine Gonzales (different Gonzales) picked up and ran with.
Here is what Jeannine says:
I saw the post below from Joyce and started FB chatting back and forth with her about how much they wanted to raise (any amount would help) and when they wanted the money (July/August). Then I approached her at Church one Sunday and she was all in. Her and Fred were awesome Saturday as well as all those who came out to help. It was such a success it blows my mind. People are still giving me money for her, too! (yep, I got your card from Jimmy today). Thank you so much!
Jeannine and Jimmy took control and drove the effort to bring the event together.
- We promoted it at church, in our email newsletter, and on Facebook and the response was amazing!
- Many people donated items to sell.
- We had a great turnout of people who helped set up, work the event, and then take everything down at the end. The items that were left over were taken to Goodwill after the sale was done. But there was a lot more sold then there was left over!
- We had an awesome response from the community coming by and buying stuff at the sale!
- And some folks just gave money. In fact, people are still giving money! Praise God!
In total, just over $2,000 was raised in a single day!
All the money was presented to Alyssa at Sunday service the next day.
What a blessing to be able to help Alyssa and the Gonzales family in this time of severe trial!

This is just another example of how God can take something as simple as a single Facebook post, and working through His people, do something amazing with it!
